T Minus 12 Hours & Counting . . .
Our last day together in Victoria and somehow we did way more running around and doing errands than we wanted to.
Once we got past the piles of laundry, losing on the scratch and win tickets we purchased along with our 649 ticket, the loooong wait in line at the bank and then the inevitable second trip to the bank, we ended up fitting in a nice trip to the garden.
Bruce started with some weeding and I started in on taking some pictures with his new camera. Things are starting to look and smell like fall - lots of brown leaves littering the garden bed and drooping plants that have finished producing and gone to seed.
There are however, a few things we're (well just me now) still waiting to harvest which includes:
tons of these ch
erry tomatoes, all of our other tomatoes (none of the
beef steak or romas have ripened yet), this mystery squash, some tiny red onions and then hopefully these little kiwis which will be ripe for the picking for anyone in the community garden in late fall.
After the photo extravaganza I chipped in and weeded around our measly carrots and through what remains of our lettuce patch. Tomorrow or Monday I'll head back over to the garden and will replant some lettuce and other greens for the winter. We did enjoy one last taste of summer together though and shared what appears to be our last ripe raspberry and then for dinner we enjoyed a pile of our cherry tomatoes with a bit of our basil topped with parmesan cheese, salt and pepper and a drizzling of olive oil - nothing beats fresh tomatoes, here's hoping I can harvest some more!!!
Then we headed home for a dinner of burgers, corn, tomatoe basil salad and kiwi wine. Now we've just uploaded the day's photos and are going to settle in to our last evening at home together - see you on the other side of the first few days of this six month journey.
