We have arrived! All in one piece, too!
We are presently sitting at Julia and Jérémi's in Jena , Germany - so far so good! I really want to sit and write a ton of details about all that we have been up to but we've already spent a few hours checking out our photos so far (memory card space is limited for this trip!) and now it is time to visit with our hosts!
But here are a few photos!
Arrived in London Monday afternoon - here is Bruce in a traditional London black cab from the Airport to the train station:

Then we got on the train and headed to Hastings to see Diane and Graham , Bruce's aunt and uncle - we were both very glad to see each other at the station! We enjoyed a lovely dinner and promptly fell into bed and were awoken bright and early to coffee and orange juice!
Here is Bruce with the happy hosts outside of their house which was a view through to the English Channel (which I have my back to).

After breakfast and packing up our clothes for Europe and leaving behind our clothes for Ghana we headed to the train to go back to London to meet Bruce's friend Rob who had been traveling in South East Asia and South Africa since July 1. We met him in Picadilly Circus and he was trying to stay warm! We headed with Rob off to stay with his cousin in a town about 30 min train ride north of London. After a night out with, yes, a few beers at a local pub, we headed home for a sleep. The next day we headed into London to look around before out flight to Germany - here is Bruce with Rob at the Chelmsford train station.

Here we are on London Bridge - looking back towards London Tower.
We then headed back to Chelmsford to pick up our backpacks and head to Stansted airport to catch our flight to Leipzig, Germany. We arrived rather late in the evening and took a train into town (for free since we could not figure out how to pay with the German ticket machines!) we then headed to a hostel and enjoyed a large beer each and some McDonald’s cheeseburgers and fries (of course!). Then it was straight to bed - we each got a top bunk in our room ; )
This morning we got up and headed straight to find breakfast which was a delicious find of a potato, onion and bacon dish and of course a sausage - delicious & filling! Here I am in front of the train station which apparently has the largest volume of people through it in all of Europe - busy!
So, now we must get back to our beer ... that’s right, fresh, tasty Czech pilsner in a 500ml bottle! Yum!
This weekend we will be off to visit Berlin with Julia & Jérémi so we are hoping to see the Berlin wall and some amazing other culture and sights! Then we are off to Zurich to visit another friend, Erica and a train ride around the whole country!
We’ll write more soon!
